Fatboy makes the best outdoor furniture for the beach deck and backy

Gambar
You don't have to spend thousands of dollars to deck out your deck with high-design outdoor furniture. While we love a sleek chaise lounge as much as the next person, there's something a bit disconcerting about spending so much on a piece that's going to take the beating of sun, rain, fluctuating temperatures, and even critters (get out of here, squirrels!). If you feel as in need of affordable, durable, and delightful pieces to spruce up your life, look no further than Danish brand Fatboy. The company began in 2002 when Dutch businessman Alex Bergman bought the rights to designer Jukka Setälä's sleek, more mature version of the much-maligned bean bag chair. The Original Bean Bag Chair ($219) is an oversized, slouchy pillow that can be scrunched up and sat on or laid out like a cushion. An outdoor-ready version ($329) is built with water-resistant fabric and stuffing to sit on your deck, by the pool, or get dragged out into the grass for an outdoor movie night. The ...

(WSAW) - Furniture sales are at an all-time demand, and furniture stores believe it's because people are spending so much time at home during COVID-19. "The furniture industry in itself is seeing a lot of demand right now. People are out there looking to replace stuff because they're spending so much time in their homes," Furniture and Appliance Mart vice president of marketing Jon Gadbois said. "People have been transferred to working from home, so we see people transitioning rooms into their homes into office space," Nigbur's Fine Furniture general manager Linda Nigbur added. The pandemic that has been keeping people inside their homes is also disrupting furniture orders. "You had a bunch of manufacturing facilities that were impacted by this that were operating at maybe 30-40% of their capacity. Right now we're seeing that come to ...

Eric Sinclair, left, Mark and Tom Malchow ABERDEEN, S.D. — Following a fire that burned Aberdeen, S.D.-based Malchow's Home Furnishings' location to the ground last October, Montgomery's, a furniture retailer also based in South Dakota, has announced its purchase of the longtime South Dakota retailer and plans to bring members of Malchow's leadership into its leadership team. Combined, the two retailers bring over 200 years of furniture selling experience to the table. "Discussion of joining Montgomery's started after the devastating fire that burned Malchow's to the ground in October 2019," said Mark Malchow, half of the third-generation father/son team behind Malchow's. "We knew from the moment we started talking with Clark and Eric that Montgomery's shared our business philosophies on how to take care of customers and employees, and what it means to be a long-time family- owned business in this state. ...

Does That IKEA Furniture You Just Bought Need to Be Anchored? Here̢۪s How to Tell

Gambar
Many of us understand the basics of childproofing our homes. We know to lock up potentially poisonous chemicals and to keep electrical outlets covered. Perhaps we've even ridded our homes of candles, and switched to exclusively using the backburner of our stoves (where our children are less likely to reach for a piping hot pot). But even the most vigilant among us may not realize that the heavy pieces of furniture filling our homes can be just as dangerous as the cleaning products hiding underneath our sinks. Every 20 minutes, someone in the U.S. is injured due to an appliance, TV or piece of furniture falling over, according to Consumer Reports. It's for this reason that anchoring your furniture to prevent tip-overs is one of the most fundamental steps you can take in rendering your home a little safer. Tip-overs happen for a number of reasons, but they're often the result of people using furniture in a way it wasn't intended to be used. "The center of gr...

CU to re-examine buying furniture made with prison labor after petition from students faculty

Gambar
The University of Colorado is examining its relationship with the Colorado Department of Corrections after students and faculty raised concerns about the university's purchase of furniture made with inmate labor. Many state entities and universities buy furniture through the Colorado Correctional Industries program, including Colorado State University and Fort Lewis College, said Ken McConnellogue, CU system spokesman. State statute previously required the university and other state agencies to use CCI as an exclusive supplier, but the statute was revised in 2012 so CCI was no longer the only option. CCI employs 1,800 inmates in 60 voluntary employment programs, which the DOC said are intended to educate and train inmates for the workforce when they leave prison. "Regarding our relationship with CCI, we've been talking about that for several months now as part of our normal sourcing," McConnellogue said. "Obviously, recent events have kind of brought an add...

And how can you protect your beautiful furniture from your sassy furball? POPSUGAR turned to the experts to help us understand more about this common feline behavior and ways to stop your cat from turning your furniture into mere shreds. Why Does My Cat Scratch the Furniture? Cats scratch because it's in their nature, said Jackson Galaxy, cat behavior and wellness expert, host of Animal Planet's My Cat From Hell, and New York Times bestselling author. "By scratching, they are producing both a visual mark on their territory, as well as a scent marker, as they have scent glands in between all of their pads," he sai...

What Animal Crossing fans buy the most from furniture to items

Gambar
Forget Nook's Cranny or the Able Sisters shop. There are entire economies and marketplaces residing outside of Animal Crossing: New Horizons where players can buy and sell whatever they want. This in turn means we can track what players actually covet and consider valuable. Polygon reached out to two marketplaces to get a sense of the games' trendiest items. These websites largely work the same in that players can put up listings of things or services for sale, and these can be purchased with anything from Bells to villagers. While there are slightly different popular items for each, there's still overlap — and together, they provide a sense of how players approach the game. Nookazon, the leading Animal Crossing marketplace, tells Polygon that the most popular items ever sold on the site are as follows: Nook Miles Ticket Cutting board Ironwood dresser Crescent-moon chair Fish bait Many of these entries make sense.
